Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Athletic Director – Cougar Club

Job Summary:
The Assistant Athletic Director – Cougar Club is a key member of the Athletics Development Team. This position helps set strategy and drive growth for the Cougar Club, managing donor relationships at all levels and raising millions of dollars annually to support BYU Athletics. This position assists with major fundraising efforts, donor cultivation, the day-to-day operations of the Cougar Club, and strategic initiatives that generate millions of dollars annually for BYU Athletics. The Assistant AD manages relationships with donors and club members, supports high-profile events, and oversees select aspects of premium seating, ticketing, and donor benefits. Within assigned areas (i.e., donor strategy, event execution, member services, and benefit fulfillment), the Assistant AD strengthens donor engagement and drives revenue outcomes. The position also collaborates across Athletics and campus partners (ticketing, marketing, events) to deliver a high-quality donor experience—especially around priority seating, parking, hospitality, and communications—so that gifts translate into measurable impact for student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Cougar Club fundraising goals through donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship across all giving levels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with major donors and members through personal, phone, and digital outreach.
  • Identify and engage new donor prospects; prepare proposals, correspondence, and gift documentation.
  • Administer membership renewals, upgrades, and engagement campaigns, ensuring exceptional member service and retention.
  • Plan and help execute donor and member events (e.g., luncheons, scholarship dinners, “Night Under the Stars”) including logistics, vendor coordination, and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with Ticket Operations to manage priority seating, parking, and benefits fulfillment tied to donor giving levels.
  • Coordinate VIP hospitality and represent BYU Athletics at home and away events, fostering strong alumni and donor connections.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, track donor activity, and generate reports to measure engagement and revenue progress.
  • Partner across Development, Ticketing, Corporate Sponsorship, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment with policies and donor experience standards.
  • Contribute to annual planning, donor strategy, and process improvements informed by data and donor feedback.

What Qualifies You to Apply?

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing, public relations, or a related field
  • Three years of proven experience in athletics, fundraising, development, or a related field
  • Willingness to uphold and live by the university’s Honor Code.
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend, which may be verified during the application process.

Preferred:

  • Background in athletics as a student-athlete, coach, and/or administrator.
  • Five years of proven experience in athletics, fundraising, development, or a related field

Pay Grade: 54
