MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide athletic training services for all Marymount University student-athletes and for student-athletes of visiting teams traveling without an athletic trainer for all home games.

  • Provide practice and game day coverage

  • Work closely with the Head Athletic Trainer, Team Physician, Director of the Student Health Center, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and each coach staff to address any injury or illness concerns

  • Ensure medical records are kept up to date including history, daily treatment records, injury reports and physician referrals while in compliance with all current regulations.

  • Assist with pre-participation screenings

  • Follow primary and secondary insurance procedures for compliance with University and NCAA policies

  • Knowledge of and support to manage the athletic training budget

  • Supervise University and/ or NCAA drug testing as directed

OTHER DUTIES AND ASSIGNMENTS

  • Maintain supplies and equipment inventory providing Head Athletic Trainer with appropriate bids and quotes.

  • Assist with recruiting and supervising work study students and visiting athletic training students

  • Manage and supervise the care and maintenance of the training room facilities

  • Aid in providing in-service training for athletic department staff

  • Work closely with Head Athletic Trainer to develop individual goals

  • Responsible for working with supervisor and other team members to achieve successful results on all established individual and departmental goals and key performance indicators.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education                                           

Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred. Ability to teach, effectively communicate with diverse populations; organize and maintain a clean working environment.

Experience                                        

A minimum of 2 years of related experience, working with collegiate athletes desired;  Must have strong communications skills including ability to communicate by telephone/text/email.

Licenses or Certifications            

NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer

Financial Responsibility               

Supporting the preparation and management of the annual athletic training office budget and inventory

Supervision                                       

Student-athletes during rehabilitation and treatment and athletic training student-workers

Special Knowledge                        

Experience/certification with alternative therapies (IASTM, myofascial decompression, blood flow restriction, dry needling, etc…) to enhance the student-athletes treatment and recovery process is a plus

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to travel; heavy lifting required (50 pounds and over); may be required to work when the university is closed. Ability to work in less than ideal weather conditions (i.e. high heat and below freezing temperatures with various precipitation).

Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays
