Description

Jackson State University, an NCAA Division I (FCS) member of the NCAA and Southwestern Athletic Conference, invites applicants for the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Examples of Duties

  • Assist in the implementation of a strength & conditioning program for all athletic programs.

  •  Teaching/coaching student-athletes with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experiences required to be competitive in their chosen position or area.

  • Monitor the use of the facility.

  • Provide reports and documentation of the student-athletes’ progression.

  • Work in cooperation with the sports medicine or athletic training staff in rehabilitating and strengthening injured athletes or in prevention.

  • Develop, administer, and monitor strength and conditioning programs.

  • Evaluate each student-athlete to identify strengths and deficiencies and design programs to accommodate the deficiencies.

  •  Collaborate with Head Coaches & Athletic Trainers to design in-season and off-season programs consistent with industry safety and health standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is required (master's preferred) with at least three years of related experience.

  •  Must be first aid, AED and CPR certified.

  • Must meet all licensing requirements as required by the NCAA, including certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association; must have a working knowledge of medical terminology.
