1. Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited Athletic Trainer Certified Program, with current NATA Board of Certification Inc. certification.

2. License to practice as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Michigan as of 1/1/11.

3. Three years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.

4. This is for an Off-field Athletic Trainer II

5. Ability to work in a face-paced dynamic hospital based physician clinic

DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan is one of the nation’s largest hospitals specializing in rehabilitation medicine and research. RIM is known for its clinical expertise in spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputee, orthopedics and catastrophic injury care. The Institute houses the Center for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery and the Southeastern Michigan Traumatic Brain Injury System (SEMTBIS), one of only 16 federally designated model systems of care for brain injury care and research. RIM also operates several outpatient sites throughout southeast Michigan specializing in sports medicine and orthopedics.

Job Summary

This position is for an Athletic Trainer within a fast-paced, hospital-based, Outpatient Physician Clinic. Under general supervision of a Physician and in compliance with legal aspects of patient care activities and guidelines that impact practice, and according to established policies and procedures, develops and administers established treatment plans for physician clinic patients. In collaboration with the Physician, develops exercise programs and assesses patient progress through the program.

The athletic trainer will be able to perform the following functions\: clinical intake, medical history review, patient discharge, medication review, clinical assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions as set forth by the NATA Certification (BOC).
The athletic trainer will be able to carry out all prescribed treatments and recommendations made by the Physician.  
Works as a team with the Physician to schedule patients, develop/perform home exercise treatment programs, and work alongside other clinical staff to perform essential clinical duties.


Provides appropriate assessment/documentation of patient progress and perform patient billing procedures.  
Instructs and prepares patients for treatment and reports patients progress to Physician.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principals of growth and development over the life span and the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information.
