Description

This position is a Full Time/day role at IUHMG Metro

Assesses, treats, and rehabilitates athletic injuries under the guidance of a licensed physician. Contributes to the planning and implementation of specific treatment and prevention programs for patients and student groups. Coordinates and provides sports medicine and/or rehabilitation services ensuring ordered procedures, treatments and documentation are completed. Provides athletic training services for athletic, community, and outreach events. 
• Bachelor's Degree or master's degree in athletic training is required. 
• Indiana State Athletic Training Licensure or eligible required. 
• Must be a Board of Certification (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer. 
• AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross Professional Rescuer required. 
• Other certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. 

Job Duties-

- Rooming: vitals, history and physical exam, determine if x-rays are needed, present to physician

- Placing needed orders per provider PT, MRI/CT, etc.

- Preparing any in office procedures (Injections, aspirations, ultrasound exams, PRP, etc.)

- Global period patients: complete history, physical examination, and plan of care based on physician recommendations

- Triaging and addressing patient calls and messaging

- Obtaining prior authorization per provider request

- Manage paperwork including, but not limited to FMLA, disability, workers comp, etc.

- Other Responsibilities

          Casting/splinting

          Staple or stitch removal

          Wound care

          Home exercise programs

          Patient education

          DME

          Clinical/Procedure Chart Prepping

          Scheduling Assistance as needed

          Medical Instrumentation Logistics

          Prescription Education and Review

 

  • This position will work directly with a surgeon that specializes in Hip Preservation of young adults with Hip Dysplasia.
  • 1-3 years of prior experience required, particularly in Orthopedics or Sports Medicine; Comfortable with paperwork; casting experience is a plus
