Position Summary:
Eastpointe Community Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated Part-Time Athletic Trainer to provide healthcare services and injury prevention support to student-athletes within Eastpointe Athletics.  The Athletic Trainer will be responsible for providing coverage during practices and home athletic contests, ensuring the health and safety of all student-athletes.

 

Work Schedule/Compensation:

  • Non-Game Days (Practices): 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Game Days (Home Contests): 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM

  • Compensation: Salary is negotiable.  Employee will be hired through Eastpointe Community Schools and paid by the district through an individual employment agreement.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site medical coverage for student-athletes during scheduled practices and home contests
  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries and conditions
  • Develop and implement injury prevention and emergency action plans
  • Maintain accurate documentation of injuries, treatments, and athlete progress
  • Communicate effectively with coaches, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers regarding student-athlete health and recovery
  • Ensure compliance with district, state, and national athletic training standards and policies

  • Medical Expertise: Knowledge of sports medicine, injury assessment, treatment protocols, and rehabilitation techniques. 
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and medical staff. 
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situations. 
  • Leadership & Trust: Ability to build rapport with athletes and lead them through the recovery process, gaining their trust to ensure proper care. 
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous record-keeping and a keen eye for identifying and addressing potential risks. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field
  • Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) as an Athletic Trainer (ATC)
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate athletic schedules
  • Previous experience in a school or interscholastic athletic setting

Physical Requirements: Sitting or standing for extended periods of time, walking, bending, stooping, squatting and twisting. Lifting of supplies and other work related materials occasionally involved. Weight of materials will vary, but generally be of less than 40 pounds. Indoor and outdoor work environment with evening and/or variable hours.
