Summary of Performance Expectations:
Under the supervision of a directing physician, manages care of athletes and the active population in community outreach settings. Uses preventative measures appropriately, provides standard immediate care procedures used in emergencies, clinical evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning. Employs appropriate assessment outcomes measures to determine effectiveness of the outreach program. Determines appropriate return to play of athletes and active population. Management of head injuries/concussions and referrals to appropriate medical professionals to ensure optimal level of care. Provides education to coaches.
Education & Credentials:
Required
Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program. NATABOC certified (ATC credential). Licensed by North Carolina Board of Athletic Training Examiners within three months of employment date.
BCLS for healthcare providers or completion of BCLS from the American Heart Association within one month of employment date.
Preferred
Master’s degree in Sports Medicine from an accredited program. BCLS, FA, AED instructor certified.
Work Experience:
Required
No experience required. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
Preferred
One or more years experience as an AT, high school or college level.
