Reports To: Director of Athletics / Head Football Coach
Bald Knob Public Schools is seeking a highly energetic, relational, and committed educator to serve as Defensive Coordinator with a teaching assignment to be determined. This position plays a critical role in advancing our football program and developing student-athletes who compete at an elite level while representing Bald Knob with pride and integrity.
The ideal candidate is a high-character leader who is passionate about player development, program culture, and athlete advocacy.
The Defensive Coordinator will serve as a key leadership partner within the Bald Knob football program, working directly with the Head Football Coach to implement the program’s philosophy, standards, and expectations.
In addition to football responsibilities, the position will include a second spring sport, with preference given to candidates interested in serving as Head Varsity Track Coach or Assistant Track Coach.
The teaching assignment will be determined based on certification and district needs.
Assist the Head Varsity Football Coach in developing and implementing the overall philosophy of the program
Serve as a leadership partner in daily operations, practice planning, and game preparation
Coordinate the defensive unit with flexibility in defensive position assignments
Coach an assigned position group with emphasis on fundamentals, effort, discipline, and development
Assist with game planning, film breakdown, play installation, in-game adjustments, and sideline organization
Promote alignment and continuity across all levels of the football program
Provide timely, constructive feedback to student-athletes and coaching staff
Promote participation, retention, and long-term engagement in the football program
Teach district-approved curriculum aligned to Arkansas state standards
Develop and implement lesson plans that meet diverse student needs
Differentiate instruction for G/T, ELL, LD, physically impaired, at-risk, and other student populations
Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment
Evaluate and document student progress using multiple assessment methods
Communicate regularly with parents and stakeholders
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities
Support and participate in extra-curricular activities
Serve in a second spring sport, with preference for Head Varsity Track Coach
Maintain a highly energetic and professional presence
Support positive school and community relationships
Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Administration
Valid Arkansas teaching license for assigned grade level and subject area
Meets Arkansas Qualified Teacher designation requirements, if applicable
Successful completion of background check and drug screening
Strong communication and leadership skills
Commitment to student-athlete development on and off the field
