Girls Freshman Basketball Coach

Position Title: Freshman Girls Basketball Coach
Reports to: Athletic Director / Principal
Classification: Extra-Curricular / Stipend Position
The Freshman Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for developing the skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship of student-athletes participating at the freshman level. The coach will create a positive environment for learning the fundamentals of basketball and prepare athletes for progression to junior varsity and varsity levels.
Plan and conduct regular practices focused on skill development, conditioning, and team play.
Teach rules, techniques, and strategies appropriate for freshman-level athletes.
Provide supervision during all practices, games, and team-related activities.
Promote academic responsibility and character development among student-athletes.
Work closely with the JV and varsity coaches to align program goals and philosophy.
Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school personnel.
Comply with Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) rules, district policies, and safety protocols.
Maintain care and inventory of uniforms, equipment, and facilities.
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
Previous experience coaching or playing basketball (preferably at the high school level).
CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain before start of season).
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Completion of AIA-mandated training (including NFHS courses: Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion in Sports, Heat Illness, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, etc.).
Experience working with high school-aged students.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Understanding of youth sports development and student-athlete growth.
