Position Overview:

Woodstock Union High School is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Head Track and Field Coach to lead our high school varsity team. The ideal candidate will be a positive role model who fosters sportsmanship, teamwork, personal growth, and athletic excellence.

As Head Coach, you will oversee all aspects of the track and field program, including training, coaching staff management, athlete development, meet planning, and collaboration with school administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and conduct effective daily practices for all track and field disciplines (sprints, distance, hurdles, jumps, throws, etc.).

  • Mentor student-athletes on performance, conditioning, and sportsmanship.

  • Develop meet lineups and manage logistics for home and away meets.

  • Supervise assistant coaches and delegate responsibilities as appropriate.

  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all athletes.

  • Maintain open communication with parents, school staff, and the athletic department.

  • Comply with all Vermont Principals’ Association (VPA) rules and school district policies.

Qualifications:

  • Previous coaching experience in track and field (preferably at the high school or collegiate level).

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and support student-athletes.

  • CPR, First Aid, and Concussion Training certifications (or willingness to obtain).

  • Completion of background check and any state-required coaching credentials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with high school-aged youth.

  • Multi-event coaching expertise (e.g., sprints and throws, or distance and jumps).

Compensation:

  • Stipend based on district’s coaching pay scale and experience level.
