Porter-Gaud School is an Episcopal, independent, coeducational day school of 1,650 students in preschool through grade 12. The School is seeking a Head Varsity Baseball Coach for the 2025 - 2026 school year. The Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Porter-Gaud School is responsible for leading and managing the baseball program in alignment with the School's mission. This role requires a program-wide perspective, incorporating all levels of the sport, while emphasizing player development, sportsmanship, character, and teamwork.


Primary Responsibilities:


Program Development & Implementation

● Design and execute effective training programs and practice plans.

● Teach the fundamentals, techniques, and strategies of baseball.

● Ensure training aligns with long-term program development and school values.

Team Culture & Leadership

● Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team environment.

● Promote sportsmanship, integrity, and accountability among players.

● Model and reinforce strong character and leadership values.

Athlete Support & Growth

● Guide and mentor student-athletes in achieving personal and team goals.

● Provide individualized feedback and support both on and off the field.

Performance Evaluation

● Assess player performance and skill development regularly.

● Offer constructive feedback and create plans for improvement.

Team Operations Management

● Oversee game and practice scheduling, travel coordination, and equipment management.

● Ensure a safe and structured environment during all team activities.

Communication & Collaboration

● Maintain consistent and transparent communication with players, families, faculty, and administration.

● Collaborate with the athletic department and other coaches to align with overall program goals.

Representation of Porter-Gaud

● Represent the School with professionalism and integrity.

● Reflect and uphold the mission and values of Porter-Gaud in all coaching activities.


Essential Qualifications

Sport-Specific Expertise: In-depth knowledge of baseball rules, techniques, and strategies.

Coaching Experience: Previous experience coaching (or playing) at the high school, collegiate, or professional level.

Leadership & Communication: Strong ability to motivate athletes and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage team logistics, practices, and competition schedules with efficiency.

Mission-Driven Mindset: Commitment to developing the whole student-athlete in alignment with the school's mission.

Reporting: The Head Varsity Baseball Coach will report to the Athletic Director.
