OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT 

Marlborough School seeks a dynamic and dedicated individual to fill the role of Head Lacrosse  Coach. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Lacrosse Coach will play a vital role in shaping the future of our student-athletes. This opportunity is perfect for someone who is innovative, engaged, highly organized, and passionate about nurturing the talents of young athletes.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Starting at the beginning of the School Year, the Head Coach is responsible for strategically planning the Lacrosse Season. To ensure the program remains at the forefront, they commit to staying updated on the latest ideas, techniques, and rules by attending various clinics and workshops. Furthermore, the coach remains actively involved in professional organizations within the sport and participates in key school activities by attending school admissions events. 


Pre-Season (Winter): 
  • Coordinates with athletic trainers to ensure athletes are cleared for participation.
  • Organize pre-season parent and staff meetings, clarifying rules and expectations.
  • Distribute practice schedules and required training proof. 
  • Facilitate a pre season practice plan to develop all levels. 
  • Work with coaching staff to create program standards and expectations 
  • Work with AD to create an appropriate game schedule 

In Season (Spring): 
  • Supervise all phases of teams, emphasizing safety and ethical conduct.
  • Organize regular practice sessions to develop athletes' potential. 
  • Ensure facility regulations are understood and enforced. 
  • Report contest outcomes to the media and Athletic Director. 
  • Instruct players on rules, techniques, and safety procedures. 
  • Adhere to Marlborough School's rules and regulations.

PostSeason (Spring): 
  • Arrange systematic return, cleaning, storing, and inventory of all equipment/uniforms.
  • Recommend student athletes for awards and evaluate past seasons. 
  • Recommend improvements for facilities and personnel. 
  • Submit recommendations for next year's schedule and equipment purchases. 
  • Evaluate all assistant coaches under supervision. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field is preferred. 
  • A minimum of 5 years of competitive lacrosse experience at the secondary, club or collegiate level. 
  • Strong understanding of Lacrosse techniques, strategies, and training methods. 
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, accommodating the schedule of athletic events and practices. 
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for attending off-site games and events. 
  • Commitment to professional development, staying updated on the latest coaching  techniques and industry best practices.
