Middle School Basketball Coach

The School:

Gilmour Academy is a Catholic, independent, coeducational college-preparatory school that was founded in 1946 by the Brothers of Holy Cross from Notre Dame, Indiana. The campus occupies 144 acres in Gates Mills, Ohio, an eastern suburb of Cleveland.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Middle School Basketball Coach to join our coaching team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about coaching and mentoring young athletes, fostering skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and conduct regular practice sessions to improve players' skills and overall team performance.
• Develop and implement game strategies and tactics.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to student-athletes, promoting good sportsmanship and teamwork.
• Attend all games, including evenings and weekends, to coach and support the team.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members to ensure a positive and inclusive athletic program.
• Monitor and enforce safety protocols during practices and games to ensure the well-being of players.

Qualifications:

• Active Ohio Pupil Activity Permit
• Experience playing basketball at a competitive level.
• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle an upper school level.
• Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques.
• Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles for student-athletes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young individuals.
