Click on the link below to access the Certified Pay Scale for 2025-2026.  The salary is based on a 220-day contract for a full fiscal year.  If the number of days is less than 220, divide the annual salary by 200 to get the daily rate, and then multiply the daily rate times the number of paid days for the remainder of the 2025-2026 fiscal year.  For a full fiscal year, there is a $12,000 annual supplement.

JCHS Athletic Director - Job Description

 

JOB SUMMARY:  The Athletic Director will work with the school administrative team with their assigned responsibilities and to manage the school’s athletic teams. He/she will be responsible for working with the lead principal in hiring coaches, oversee athletic budgets, conduct student and parent meetings, schedule games, evaluate the athletic program, and comply with all  TSSAA rules and regulations. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Tennessee teaching license with a high school certification. Administrative license also required.
  2. Experience in high school athletics.
  3. Ability to organize games, coaches’ meetings, work with administrative and school counseling teams, and conduct booster and parent meetings. 
  4. Knowledge of NCAA clearinghouse and TSSAA rules and regulations
  5. Such other qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: 

  1. Reports to Principal
  2. Complete assigned administrative duties as an assistant principal.
  3. Assist the Principal in developing a quality athletic program and running the day-to-day operations of the athletic program
  4. Assist in the selection and hiring of athletic coaches and ensuring all coaches have certification in accordance with JCHS and TSSAA guidelines. The Athletic Director may not hold any athletic coach position. 
  5. Responsible for meeting with and orienting all coaches on district policies, procedures and expectations, rules and regulations, budgets, athletic handbook, and ensures that all coaches comply with JCHS and TSSAA policies and procedures.
  6. Ensure the school is in compliance with Title IX.
  7. Works closely with the staff and site administration to develop and enforce an athletic/academic code of conduct which is consistent with the goals of the staff, administration, and the district.
  8. Verify that all athletes are academically eligible to compete and that student eligibility is entered in the TSSAA Portal.
  9. Works closely with the coaches and athletic trainers to schedule athletic physicals, verify that all athletes are medically cleared, and have all necessary medical documentation to participate.
  10. Provide and maintain adequate practice and playing facilities; meets with coaches to coordinate and establish a schedule for the use of facilities for practices and games; and organizes game schedules for teams.
  11. Provide supervision and security for home competitions; works with coaches and security to develop a safety/emergency plan for all sporting events and practices and makes sure that game officials are acquired for all home competitions.
  12. Responsible for development and oversight of Athletic Department budget in conjunction with the School Principal and Bookkeeper, approving the purchase of all equipment and uniforms, JCHS and ensuring that each varsity coach maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and materials, and file such an inventory with the principal at the conclusion of each season.
  13. Respond to all parent, staff, and community concerns, and serves as a liaison between the athletic booster groups, coaches, and site administration.
  14. Coordinates athletic banquets, college signings, letters of recommendation, and keeps a record of student accolades. (ex. All-State, Lettermen, school and state records, college/university signees, etc.)
  15. Perform other duties as assigned
