Position available: Immediate Opening
Position Purpose To manage and coordinate all school athletic activities and sports programs; to promote athletics and physical fitness as positive extra-curricular activities; and to ensure that all eligible students have an equal opportunity to participate and share in the benefits of the school's athletic programs.
Essential Functions
Supervises the school's athletic programs in coordination with the Principal, including recommending policies and procedures relating to athletic programs.
Attends athletic events and assumes responsibility for managing/coordinating setup and constant supervision of students by responsible adults.
Successfully resolves conflicts that may arise among student athletes, parents, coaches, etc.
Ascertains that all coaches and volunteers have current Criminal Background Checks and have attended a Protecting God's Children training.
Analyzes and evaluates existing athletic programs and equipment for the purpose of ensuring that they serve the best interest of the school and the students who participate, meet applicable laws and regulations; and ensure the safety of participants.
Assumes responsibility for the recruitment, selection, training, supervision and evaluation of all coaches.
Serves as a consultant to administration, teaching staff, coaches and students on matters pertaining to the athletic programs.
Enforces and supports school student eligibility policies and works collaboratively with school administration to communicate, enforce, and manage these policies.
Analyzes student participation and develops procedures to ensure that the maximum number of students have the opportunity to participate in athletic activities and that the programs do not discriminate against female or minority students.
Supervises the school's athletic facilities, oversees the scheduling and coordinating practices and athletic events, and disseminates information as needed regarding the times and places of athletic events.
Works collaboratively with the Principal and Pastor to schedule athletic events / practices that do not conflict with student or family Mass attendance, Sacramental preparation, or other important school / parish events.
Supervises and coordinates the Athletic Association’s budget and finances for all sports programs and sporting events; including inventory and control of uniforms, supplies and equipment.
Works with the Athletic Association and Principal on creating the athletic budget.
Serve as the school representative and liaison to interscholastic leagues and other sports-related groups as needed.
Ensures that all applicable laws and regulations relating to athletics are applied and followed, including Title IX and other federal laws and regulations, state laws and regulations, and conference rules and regulations, as well as concussion protocols.
Follows diocesan Safe Environment and Transportation policies.
Coordinates the selection and compensation of sports officials/referees for on-site events and represents the school for the purpose of securing the highest possible quality of officiation.
Establishes criteria for awards relating to participation and demonstrating excellence in school athletic programs, including eligibility requirements.
Participate in award ceremonies and distribution of awards to athletes and 8th grade graduates.
Creates materials to publicize athletic and sporting events, both in printed and electronic formats, for the purpose of disseminating information and fostering enhanced awareness among students, staff, and the community in recognizing and supporting the school's athletic programs and attending events.
Maintains a professional relationship with media sources for the purpose of providing information regarding schedules, postpones, or cancellations; sporting event statistics, records, and other relevant information.
Coordinates with others for the purpose of scheduling ancillary activities that occur prior to, during, and after sporting events, such as musical programs, press boxes, scorer tables, half-time programs, police coverage, ticket sales, availability of on-site medical care, concessions, custodial services, and other related activities.
Coordinates the collection of mandatory annual physical examinations of all participants in athletics.
Handles all accidents and injuries in accordance with school policies, and applicable laws and regulations, including reporting and documentation requirements.
Maintains records and documents as required and necessary to ensure proper documentation of athletic program activities, events, participation, and related information for the purpose of complying with school policies as well as with applicable laws and regulations.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal or Pastor.
Attends Diocesan Athletic Director or school sport program meetings, as necessary.
Communicates regularly with the Principal regarding athletic programs.
Communicates with the Principal regarding any conflicts in the athletic programs.

Travel Requirements Travel to diocesan buildings and professional meetings as required. Qualifications Profile
Knowledge of athletics, athletic programs, and physical fitness.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding school athletic programs, safety and health, and other areas under responsibility.
Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to evaluate, develop and implement athletic programs, activities, and events, and make effective recommendations related to those areas.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding leadership, performance, and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Ability to communicate with all stakeholders including (but not limited to): the Pastor, school administration, student athletes, parents, coaches, School Board members, and teachers.
Ability to establish trust and build relationships with administration, Pastor, staff, coaches, students, parents.
Education and Experience
High school equivalent or higher
Successful experience in managing or directing the athletic programs for a school or a school district is preferred.
Previous successful supervisory experience is preferred.
Previous coaching experience is preferred.
Most importantly, the candidate is expected to adhere to all principles and tenets of the Catholic faith, to maintain a lifestyle that is in full accord with Church teachings, and to always promote the best interests of his or her students and the Roman Catholic Church.
Conditions of Employment
He or she must complete PGC and have a current favorable Criminal Background Check (CBC) with fingerprinting protocol through Accurate Biometrics.
This is a part-time, unbenefited position. The Athletic Director will work in the months of August - June.
Salary Range: Pay will be $15.00 per hour
Final rate will be determined by relevant years of experience in a similar job combined with education and professional licensure

Works in standard office and school building environments but also has ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
