Job Description-Assistant Athletic Trainer

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree from an accredited institution

  • NATABOC certification

  • Eligible/possession of North Carolina Athletic Training State Licensure

  • CPR and AED Certified

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution

  • NATABOC certification

  • Eligible/possession of North Carolina Athletic Training State Licensure

  • CPR and AED Certified

  • One to Three (1-3) years of experience as a certified athletic trainer

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical services to student-athletes and athletic teams as assigned

  • Provide all services under the direction of the Assistant Director of Athletics for Athletics Health Care and the Team Physicians

  • Assist with the prevention and recognition of injuries to student-athletes

  • Assist with providing a safe, legal, and ethical working environment

  • Assist with the management and rehabilitation of injuries to student-athletes adhering to departmental established protocols.

  • Assist with the organization and administration of all sports medicine services

  • Support the mission statements, goals, and philosophy of the Sports Medicine Department and Athletic Department, as well as all university policy and procedures

  • Assist with the organization, delivery, and documentation of pre-participation physical examinations

  • Assist with the acquisition and maintenance of student-athlete insurance records

  • Assist in the provision of coverage of athletic team practices and events

  • Providing relevant communication regarding a student-athlete’s medical condition to appropriate sources in a timely manner

  • Maintain medical records on all student-athletes in a timely, efficient, and confidential manner

  • Contribute to a team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements and explore new opportunities to enhance the services of the department

  • Assist with and actively contribute to the maintenance of a clean, sterile, and safe working environment

  • Adhere to all department and university policies and procedures

  • Perform other responsibilities incidental to the work described herein

  • Coordinate with the student-athlete, Assistant Director of Athletics for Athletics Health Care and appropriate personnel with needed to utilize support services for the benefit of the student-athlete according to policy and privacy procedures

  • Undergo yearly performance evaluation
