PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one’s personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, who are employed in a sensitive position, or who travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug-screening. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening..

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year institution
  • Successful coaching experience at the college or high-school level. 
  • Must have a clear understanding of and be committed to the NAIA philosophy and the role of athletics within the university’s mission.
  • Must have appropriate coaching licenses and necessary certifications for the designated sport.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and develop athletes
  • Must be able to communicate with other coaches, players, parents and organization members

Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Recruitment and retention of athletes consistent with university, AAC, and NAIA guidelines;
  • Coaching of team; including attendance at all practice sessions and team-related functions;
  • Evaluating and recruiting of potential student-athletes, including on-campus hosting and evaluations; 
  • Assisting athletes with details related to performance in games/competitions; 
  • Provide articulation, advocacy, and problem-resolution for student-athletes
  • Adhering to university policies and procedures;
  • Assuming additional department responsibilities as assigned by the head coach.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibilities.  

Work Hours:
20 hours per week. Generally, Monday-Friday, hours vary. Some nights/weekends as needed. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department.

Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes: 
Long periods of Physical exertion.  Work is performed inside and outside in all weather conditions.  Prolonged periods of standing are required. Must have the ability to walk short distances. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Title IX Implications:

Any employee who is not a confidential employee.  Brenau University requires that all Responsible Employees MUST report any possible sexual harassment or discrimination based on sex to the Title IX Coordinator when the employee has information about conduct that reasonably may constitute sex discrimination or sex-based harassment under Title IX or this part. This position is an on-ground position in Gainesville, GA.

Travel Requirements  
Some travel required to team events, recruiting events, etc. Due to insurance requirements, employees operating university vehicles or performing any driving activity for Brenau purposes must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and good driving record.

Special Requirements:

May be subject to pre-employment criminal history background check, random credit checks, MVR, drug screen, and criminal history checks. 

Licensure Requirements:
