The Assistant Coach is a creative, passionate, and athlete-centered individual who is involved in coaching, mentoring, and overseeing athletes, ensuring their personal and athletic growth in a safe, structured, and positive environment. The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach with designing practice sessions, fostering teamwork, instilling sportsmanship, and encouraging healthy competition.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach to:
Plan and execute practices for the season
Develop age-appropriate coaching strategies and techniques for 6th-8th grade athletes
Set achievable goals for students based on individual skill levels
Create a positive and inclusive environment for all participants, regardless of skill level
Instruct players on proper techniques, rules, and strategies for athletics
Provide guidance and support to enhance athletic abilities and foster teamwork
Motivate and build athletes’ self-confidence, focusing on both personal and team development
Serve as a positive role model, emphasizing sportsmanship and respect
Ensure the safety of all athletes by enforcing proper equipment use and following best practices for injury prevention
Administer minor first-aid when necessary and coordinate with the school nurse or other emergency medical professionals when required
Maintain awareness of each student’s health conditions, injuries, or limitations
Attend and complete necessary workshops or professional development
Serve as a liaison between parents, athletes, and the school's athletic department
Driving transportation vans to and from games
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications
Familiarity and experience with the sport
Strong organizational and planning skills
High level of confidentiality and discretion
The Assistant Coach is a part-time temporary position for the duration of the sport season.
Practices are typically 2:50pm - 4:50pm Tuesday to Friday.
Games may occur any day Tuesday to Friday with hours potentially running from 2:15pm - 6pm.
5th and 6th grade intramurals may be required on Mondays for additional pay for approx. 1 hr.
