About the position

The HSSU Assistant Soccer Coach plays a vital role in the development and organization of the soccer program at Harris-Stowe State University. This position is responsible for a wide range of duties that encompass the coaching and mentoring of student athletes, ensuring they are well-prepared for both practices and competitions. The Assistant Coach will be involved in coordinating practices, and providing skill development to enhance the performance of the athletes. The role also includes various administrative responsibilities, such as engaging in fundraising activities to support the program. The coach will also be responsible for supervising student athletes during practices and competitions, providing guidance and recommendations for improvements in their performance. Overall, the Assistant Soccer Coach must demonstrate effective coaching techniques and possess the ability to motivate and inspire student athletes to achieve their best.

Responsibilities

·         Instructs student athletes in techniques of the sport, rules, regulations, and equipment.

·         Drives HSSU/rental vehicles to away games, including team travel.

·         Coaches effectively in practices and competitions.

·         Integrates the program into the campus community.

·         Engages in fundraising activities.

·         Provides supervision of student athletes during practices and competitions.

·         Recommends improvements and modifications to the program.

·         Promotes the philosophy of the athletic department and HSSU University. 

Requirements

·         Valid driver's license.

·         Effective coaching techniques and skills.

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with University administrators and student-athletes.

·         Available on the weekends for the games.

·         Available during the weekdays in the morning and/or afternoon for practices.
