Supervisor: Head Coach Men & Women Swimming & Diving/Aquatics Director
Position Purpose: The Assistant Men's and Women's Swimming Coach will assist the head coach with all aspects of running a successful men's and women's swimming and diving program.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Lead student-athletes in workouts, planning and communicating daily practice plans, monitoring injury management and coaching student-athletes at competitions.
Serve as recruiting coordinator for the men's & women’s teams with duties to include sourcing prospective students, contacting recruits, and planning & executing multiple recruiting events throughout the year.
Organize and manage prospect camps throughout the summer months, promoting the camps to prospective students and coordinating operational details with campus partners.
Imagine and create new programs to serve the Union campus population and the greater local community. Organize and manage the staffing, lesson planning, and implementation of swim lessons, Red Cross courses and intramurals for students.
Collaborate with the Aquatics Director to increase the rental program. Organize contracts, invoices, and negotiate agreements with external constituents.
Co-teach 1-2 Red Cross courses in Lifeguarding and/or CPR on campus throughout the academic year.
Implement a system to measure academic performance and to foster student-athlete success in the classroom.
Adhere to NCAA rules and compliance.
Perform various duties within the Athletics Department, including event management throughout the year.
Qualifications:
Previous collegiate coaching or competitive swimming experience is required.
Must possess strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
Has the ability to identify and attract outstanding student-athletes to Union College.
A philosophy compatible with a multi-classified liberal arts college with highly selective academic standards.
Candidates must be safety conscious and able to work with a diverse group of individuals.
Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Must be able to work nights and weekends.
Compensation:
The expected salary range for this position is $40,000 to $42,000. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
