Position Description:
The Assistant Coach reports to the Head Coach, and also to the Director of Athletics. The purpose of the position is to support the college�s intercollegiate athletic program with the intention of maintaining the program�s standards within the guidelines of the USCAA Division II and the Yankee Small College Conference affiliations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Act as the Assistant Women�s Basketball Coach, including helping organize practices, games, and travel.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of an effective program to identify student-athlete prospects for the Women�s Basketball program.
- Assists with recruiting activities to include attendance and participation in Open Houses and Orientation, which adheres to College, USCAA, and AAU policies and procedures.
- Provides effective supervision of Women�s Basketball student-athletes in the practice areas, competition, and life management, including travel.
- Assists in maintaining a system to provide accurate records regarding individual and team performance for the college, regional, and national conferences.
- Assists in the coordination of team travel and similar responsibilities for out-of-town Women�s Basketball games.
- Assists head coach in recruiting efforts for program.
- Actively participates in the Student-Athlete Recognition Event.
- Serves as a role model for student athletes.
- Helps promote our department and program fundraising initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Preferences:
- Bachelor�s degree is required.
- Basketball playing or coaching experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Recruiting & Eligibility Guidelines and strategies related to intercollegiate Women�s Basketball rules of the USCAA.
- Effective planning and organizational skills. Knowledge of using Front Rush Recruiting Software.
- Ability to effectively communicate with student athletes, faculty, staff, and the community.
- Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, students, and constituent groups outside the college to support the continued enhancements and development of the Women�s Basketball program.
- In conjunction with the Head Coach, the ability to develop an organized training program (In-Season & Off-Season).
- Ability to provide leadership to student athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance.
- Possesses, or is willing to obtain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Willing to work evenings and weekends.
- Possesses a valid NY driver�s license and has a motor vehicle record that meets the College�s approved driver standard.
- Ability to work with a broad range of diverse individuals and groups to form a safe and inclusive campus community.
