Athletic Trainer:

About the Job: An athletic trainer at MAO will be responsible for providing athletic training services primarily in the outreach high school setting in accordance with their supervising physician’s protocol.   They will serve as the face of MAO at their high school, and help to market the practice to parents, athletes, coaches and administration.  Subsequently, the AT will represent MAO and the school they cover in a professional manner at all times.       

Athletic Training Role and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play according to state licensure guidelines.
  • Provide knowledge regarding a wide range of medical conditions in order to educate student athletes, parents, coaches and school administration.
  • Adhere to supervising physician protocols.
  • Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines.
  • Accurate, thorough and timely tracking and documentation of injuries and other medical conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, supervisors, school administration, coaches, parents and student athletes.
  • Maintain athletic training license (KSBHA), athletic training certification (BOC) and CPR certification.
  • Create EAPs for the different sports, and locations of events at their assigned high school.
  • Manage concussions following the guidelines set forward by the State of Kansas.
  • Execute emergency care and activate EMS in the event that it is necessary.
  • Track inventory of athletic training supplies and work with school AD on the ordering of athletic training supplies.
