Signing Bonus: $5,000

 

POSITION TYPE: Full-time or Part-time outreach with local and away game coverage. Daytime and evening hours.

 

JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to safely, effectively and efficiently perform athletic training duties while working under the supervision of the Sports Medicine providers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Outreach for high school athletic training and industrial medicine opportunities 
  • Assist provider in assessing physical conditions and carrying out treatment programs
  • Administer effective physical modalities and rehabilitation plans
  • Orchestrating patient clinic visits and perform orthopedic examinations
  • Prepare patients for provider examinations
  • Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Maintain and apply therapy equipment, Cupping/Graston/Dry Needling available
  • Educate patients and/or families regarding training, injuries, and rehabilitation  
  • Maintain clean & organized work areas, exam rooms, and treatment rooms
  • Perform taping, bracing, splinting, casting, bandages and skin care
  • Receive and return patient telephone calls in a timely manner
  • Assist in prior authorization for medications and medical equipment
  • Clean and sanitize clinic equipment per clinic protocol
  • Adhere to clinic and departmental procedures and protocols
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

SUPPLEMENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Remain punctual, reliable, and available for late coverage if applicable
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude while supporting the clinic’s vision
  • Maintain required certification and/or licensure applicable to degree
  • Maintain current BLS CPR certification
  • Work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain a neat and well-groomed professional appearance
  • Interact positively with all interdisciplinary team members
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information acquired through clinic employment
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, providers, internal personnel, and outside facilities
  • Follow clinic emergency/safety protocols and attend mandatory meetings
  • Abide by clinic protocols, ergonomic recommendations, and OSHA standards
  • Adhere to the clinic philosophy and provide comprehensive care according to a patient-centered healthcare clinic

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Subject to interruptions and frequent problem solving activities
  • Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, staff, or outside agencies
  • Flexibility in scheduling required to meet department needs 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Abide by ergonomic recommendations of the position
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetic devices that will enable these senses to function adequately
  • Stand for several hours
  • Subject to lifting and carrying supplies averaging 25 pounds
  • Repetitive motions involving use of phone and keyboard

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Minimum:   Graduation from an accredited athletic trainer certification program and licensed by the State of Wisconsin

                                                                                    or

                                                   BA or BS with a licensed athletic trainer certification

 

EXPERIENCE:    

Minimum:    Graduation from Undergraduate or Master’s Degree Program as applicable

                          

KNOWLEDGE:                                                                                    

  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good judgment skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to apply supportive tape and braces correctly
  • Knowledge of PC, Windows, & Microsoft Office
