We are seeking an Athletic Trainer within the Center for Student Engagement/Athletics, who will report to the Director of Student Engagement for Athletics & Recreation. Passaic County Community College is looking for a candidate with credentials in ATC and has experience working with intercollegiate teams and/or high school sports. This role is crucial in maintaining the health and peak performance of our athletes, ensuring they are physically prepared for the demands of college sports.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review all documentation for accuracy such as; physicals, medical forms/releases, etc.
  • Lead in the provision of the health, safety, injury prevention, injury evaluation, emergency treatment, rehabilitation, referrals and in providing follow-up care to our student-athletes.
  • Adheres to and enforces policies and procedures of the Center for Student Engagement/Athletics Department and College as well as the rules and regulations of the NJCAA.
  • Evaluates student-athlete’s injuries in conjunction with college physicians (if applicable) and ensures that appropriate action is advised; works closely with college physicians for off campus appointments, diagnostic testing, rehabilitation and medical clearance.
  • Provides primary coverage and oversight to all intercollegiate games 
  • Evaluates, implements, and supervises concussion protocol
  • Maintains New Jersey Athletic Training licensure and remains in good standing with the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers through continuing education credits
  • Provides medical coverage for all home varsity events and practices as directed; arranges for emergency care when needed.
  • Ensures that student-athletes have received proper medical clearance at the beginning of each academic year through completion of appropriate annual medical forms.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director to manage the sports medicine inventory of equipment and supplies; oversees the maintenance of all equipment and ensures that it is in good working order.
  • Maintains working knowledge of the Passaic County Community College health insurance and excess athletics insurance plan as well as knowledge of basic health insurance questions.
  • Collects and dates entry of all required medical forms.
  • Oversees and directs on-campus physical therapy for student-athletes and coordinates with an outside physical therapy clinic for long term and chronic injuries.
  • Organizes, maintains and makes certain that the sports medicine office is always sanitary and in good working order.
  • Travels with assigned teams as needed.
  • Attends and participates in all training departmental, conference, and College-wide meetings related to duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Athletic Director.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited College or university with a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. 
  • Minimum of three years of professional work experience in Athletic Training.
  • CPR/First Aid and AED certification.
  • Certification in good standing with the Athletic Training Board of Certification.
  • Condition to Employment: Ability to acquire license with the New Jersey Athletic Training Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work regular days, early mornings, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel.
  • CPR/First Aid and AED instructor.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA Guidelines.

The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.

Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The minimum hourly pay for this position is $30.
