Compensation Range
The base pay scale for this position is $65,000.00 - $65,000.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.Start date and sport assignment (may vary depending on team report date):

Role & Responsibilities:
St. John’s University (9-month clinical rotation):
o Assist with day-to-day athletic training room/practice/ game coverage (travel required depending on sport)
o Provide onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation
o Communicate with physicians and coaches regarding injury status of athletes
o Assess risk of injury, self-care implementation, and overall wellness promotion
o Document all athlete encounters
o Coordinate and implement injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies and programs to each athlete
o Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education, and prevention strategies
HSS Rehabilitation & Performance (3-month educational rotation):
While at HSS, the athletic training resident is expected to work 35-40 hours/week. Approximately 30% of their time is spent in educational experiences and 70% aiding the clinical operations of physical therapists. The resident will be expected to:
o Assist in physical therapy clinics as aides
o Observe with physical therapists to foster learning and develop relationships
o Receive mentorship from Sports Physical Therapists in areas of development and case review of athletes
o Assist physical therapy patients in the performance of therapeutic exercises as directed by a physical therapist
o Communicate with HSS physicians providing coverage for St. John’s Athletics
o Engage with HSS Rehabilitation & Performance educational offerings
Requirements:
Certification & Licensure
o BOC Certified athletic trainer
o New York State athletic-training license (or proof of application in process)
o Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
Education
o Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in athletic training
Clinical Expertise
o Broad applied knowledge of medical conditions, assessment, and evaluation techniques
o Experience collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals
o Proficient in injury tracking and detailed electronic medical-record (EMR) documentation
o Familiarity with insurance policies and related procedures
Decision-Making & Communication
o Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to make independent return-to-play decisions for collegiate athletes
o Clear, professional communication in high-pressure situations with athletes, medical staff, coaches, families, and athletic department staff associated directly with team at St. John’s University

Compensation
