Job Title:  High School PE Teacher/ Head Baseball Coach     Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

 

Reports to: Principal Palmview High School                                           Pay Grade:  Teacher pay, coaching stipend

La Joya ISD seeks a committed and motivated educator-coach to serve as the High School Physical Education Teacher and Head Baseball Coach at Juarez-Lincoln High School. QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with Physical Education endorsement
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of coaching experience at the secondary level
  • Experience as a head coach or lead assistant (preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in team development and student engagement

Special Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of TEKS-aligned physical education instruction
  • Deep understanding of UIL regulations and athletic compliance
  • Effective classroom and team management skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Instructional Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and standards-aligned Physical Education lessons
  • Support student fitness, health awareness, and lifelong wellness habits
  • Use student data to adjust instruction and support all learners
  • Manage classroom behavior with fairness, consistency, and positive reinforcement
  • Maintain accurate records, grades, and parent communication in compliance with district policy




Athletic Program Leadership

  • Lead the Juarez-Lincoln High School Baseball Program
  • Plan and execute offseason, preseason, and in-season training
  • Supervise assistant coaches and coordinate feeder programs
  • Promote academic, athletic, and behavioral success
  • Manage equipment, inventory, and facility use
  • Ensure student-athlete eligibility and UIL compliance

Compliance and Safety

  • Maintain up-to-date CPR, AED, and concussion protocol certifications
  • Follow UIL, TEA, and district guidelines regarding athletic participation
  • Coordinate transportation and ensure student safety for all events

Community Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with parents and community stakeholders
  • Promote the basketball program through outreach, events, and partnerships
  • Serve as a role model for leadership, integrity, and teamwork

Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate in campus and district-level professional development
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve instruction and student outcomes
  • Support school initiatives, campus culture, and athletic programming

WORKING CONDITIONS

Mental Demands:

  • Maintain emotional control under stress
  • Handle multiple priorities and competing deadlines

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and movement during practices/games
  • Indoor and outdoor work environment with exposure to weather

Work Environment:

  • School gymnasiums, classrooms, outdoor fields, and community venues
  • Practices and games including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel
