General Summary

 

In accordance with the established policies and procedures of the East Lansing Public School District, the JV Boys Tennis Coach is responsible for overseeing the organization, implementation, and evaluation of the high school interscholastic Tennis program.

 

About the Role


  1. Supervises all matters relative to Tennis.
  2. Schedules practice sessions according to facility and equipment requirements.
  3. Arranges for necessary transportation.
  4. Governs player conduct and follows established rules.
  5. Supervises, in cooperation with assistants, all practices, games and tournaments.
  6. Supervises and coordinates assistant coaches as to their duties and responsibilities.
  7. Oversees the use, care, and inventory of all equipment, including uniforms.
  8. Submits to Activities/Athletic Director list of ineligible players weekly.
  9. Submits to Activities/Athletic Director list of award winners and varsity letter recipients.
  10. Attends all meetings required by the Michigan High School Athletic Association and C.A.A.C..
  11. Abides by the rules and regulations established by the Michigan High School Athletic Association and enforces the East Lansing athletic code.
  12. Reports all injuries to the Athletic Trainer or Activities/Athletic Director and be sure proper medical treatment has been received.
  13. Prepares public information releases regarding the team and Tennis.
  14. Instructs all athletes the skills and techniques which are unique to Tennis.
  15. Instructs all athletes proper respect for other coaches, teams and officials’ decisions.
  16. Prepares athletes for later life by instilling physical, mental, emotional, social and moral values.


Education, Knowledge and Skills Required

 

  1. Knowledge of the rules and rule changes in Tennis.
  2. High school coaching experience required.
  3. Tennis philosophy, Tennis strategy, drills, bio mechanics and first aid skills are required.
  4. Prefer B.A. degree.
  5. Teaching and motivational skills are necessary.
  6. Tournament Tennis background.
