Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Direct and manage the cheerleading program and instruct and coach students to develop skills and abilities to excel in cheerleading. Provide each student with the opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity and ensure compliance with all federal, state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and local requirements.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Bachelor’s Degree from Accredited College or University
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
Current first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate
Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of cheerleading techniques, procedures
Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct and supervise students
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience
Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
Three years coaching or participant experience in sport assigned
