Teacher, Physical Education & Athletic Director, Middle School (EX) - Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Essex MD

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Physical Education Teacher to provide an engaging and developmentally appropriate physical education program for PreK4 through 8th grade students, as well as teach two to three high school-level classes. The ideal candidate will foster a love for physical activity, sportsmanship, and teamwork while integrating Catholic values and principles into the curriculum.

Essential Functions

• Plan and teach 45-minute physical education classes for PreK4-8th grade students, ensuring activities are age-appropriate, safe, and aligned with physical education standards.
• Teach high school classes.
• Promote students’ physical, emotional, and social growth through engaging and inclusive activities.
• Foster a positive learning environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for others.
• Organize and oversee school-wide events such as field days, fitness challenges, or intramural activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Catholic values and faith into the physical education curriculum.
• Assess and document student progress, providing constructive feedback to help students grow.
• Maintain equipment and ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment for physical education activities.
• Communicate with parents and school leadership as needed regarding student performance and participation.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field; teaching certification preferred.
• Experience working with PreK through high school students in a physical education setting.
• Knowledge of fitness principles, sports, and health education.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
• Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Range: $48,000 - $53,000, Annualized
