UPPER SCHOOL: BOYS/GIRLS VARSITY DIVING COACH 

     

Pace Academy is an independent college preparatory school in Atlanta, Ga., with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Working closely with the Head Boys/Girls Swimming Coach, the varsity diving coach is responsible for supporting and initiating various aspects of the diving program, such as program development, training, and coaching team members. The coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Pace Academy. Pace Academy is a member of the GHSA (www.ghsa.net). 


Duties include:

  • Provide daily team coaching in partnership with the coaching staff 

  • Represent Pace Academy and the boys/girls swimming/diving program in a professional manner and within the bounds of good sportsmanship


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess and maintain a coaching philosophy in alignment with the Pace Academy mission

  • Experience coaching and a good understanding of how to work with Upper School student-athletes   

  • A strong commitment to the student-athlete concept

  • Effective leadership and coaching skills

  • Good communication skills with players, parents and caregivers and the Office of Athletics 

  • An energetic, self-motivated, flexible, punctual and dependable personality; must be a team player


WORK HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:

A mid-October to mid-February seasonal appointment. On campus responsibilities from 3:30 pm until 6:30 pm three days a week, including Saturday mornings. Coaching responsibilities may, on occasion, result in extended weekday or weekend commitments. All coaches are employed on an annual basis and continued employment is based on annual performance reviews conducted by the Head Boys/Girls Swimming Coach & Director of Athletics. 


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods during practices and games.

  • Able to squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, reach forward, and repeat the same hand motion often.

  • Coaching in all weather extremes, including heat, cold, rain, and/or snow.

  • Longer hours during the competitive season, including evenings and weekends.

  • Light to moderate lifting

FLSA Status: Exempt, Seasonal
