Position Title: Varsity Head Coach
Reports to: Athletic Director and School Principal

Position Summary:
Lake Region Union High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Varsity Head Coach to lead and manage our high school varsity Softball program. The ideal candidate will be committed to the growth and development of student-athletes, promoting sportsmanship, academic achievement, and teamwork. This role involves planning and overseeing practices, developing game strategies, and fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction for all aspects of the varsity program.
Plan, organize, and conduct effective team practices and training sessions.
Supervise student-athletes during all team-related activities.
Promote and model sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and academic responsibility.
Monitor academic progress of athletes and support their educational goals.
Manage assistant coaching staff and collaborate with JV and middle school programs to support overall program development.
Maintain open and respectful communication with athletes, parents, faculty, and the athletic department.
Oversee team logistics, including game scheduling, equipment, uniforms, and transportation needs in coordination with the Athletic Director.
Ensure compliance with school, district, and Vermont Principals’ Association (VPA) athletic policies and guidelines.
Maintain CPR/First Aid certification and attend required coaching clinics and meetings.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Previous coaching experience at the high school level or above.
Strong knowledge of the sport’s rules, techniques, and safety protocols.
Effective communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to serve as a positive role model for students.
Preferred:
Vermont coaching certification or ability to obtain it.
Background in education or youth mentorship.
Experience working with student-athletes in an academic setting.
Compensation:
